AAD organises dharna in support of adhoc, temporary teachers

Academic for Action and Development, on Monday organised a dharna at the North campus, for the urgent and pressing demands of more than 4,000 teachers working as adhoc/temporary staff in various departments and colleges of Delhi University. The dharna was attended by more than hundred teachers of the university.

The teachers shouted slogans like 'Halla Bol' to lure the attention of the students on the campus. While addressing the gathering,  Aditya Narayan Misra, chairman, AAD, reiterated AAD’s resolve to realise the cause of more than 4,000 adhoc/temporary teachers by ensuring the starting of the process of permanent appointment immediately, due weightage to adhoc/ temporary teachers in permanent appointment retention and rejoining of all adhoc teachers in colleges on the opening day, and summer salary to all adhoc teachers.

The demonstration also drew an overwhelming and spontaneous support from various teaching fraternity members such as Pradeep Sharma, Sanjay Verma, Sanjay Kumar, Virendra Bhardwaj, Sunaina Kanojia , and S S Siddique, who along with the members of DUTA executive, academic council and office bearers of AAD addressed the gathering.

After the dharna, a delegation under the leadership of Misra and AAD vice chairman, Rekha Dayal, met the University Vice-Chancellor, Dinesh Singh and his team and impressed upon them the demands and concerns of more than 4,000 adhoc teachers.

The Vice-Chancellor assured the delegation of an early positive intervention in the matter.

Mishra later said, 'The Vice- Chancellor had also reaffirmed his position on starting the process of permanent appointment in the month of June. He further assured to find an appropriate mechanism by which weightage to the teaching experience of adhoc/temporary teachers can be assured'.
