Despite the availability of a CCTV footage, depicting a man slaughtering three puppies and attacking four other stray dogs, the Delhi Police have failed trace the brutal killer.
Till late Sunday, the police were clueless about the case. However, NGOs Humane Society International (HSI) and India and Fauna police have announced a joint reward of Rs 1 lakh to the person, who informs the police about the the identity of the serial dog killer.
The incident took place last Monday and the police received a call on Tuesday that three puppies were found dead near the Green Park Metro station’s Gate No. 1.
When a police team reached the spot, they found the three carcasses – all cut in two pieces. The police also found four canines lying in a pool of blood. When they were rushed to a nearby veterinary care unit, it was learnt that they were stabbed with a knife.
According to the police, the entire act was captured on a CCTV camera installed nearby. The CCTV grab shows the man brutalling stabbing the dogs.
Later, the police found that over eight dogs had disappeared misteriously in the past fortnight. A case was registered at the Hauz Khas police station last Tuesday.
Millennium Post had reported the incident on March 18, after which the police formed two teams to apprehend the serial dog killer.
Meanwhile, the two NGOs have pasted posters of the accused at public places.
“The CCTV footage shows the accused luring the puppies by offering them snacks. When the animals came to eat the snacks, he stabbed them with a knife. After stabbing them he cut them into two pieces. When four dogs came to rescue the puppies, he had attacked them too,” a police official said.
“We are guarding the area and questioning residents. We have circulated the picture of the attacker among our informers,” he added.
