The newspaper titled The Sentinel, supports 'Tohoku 365' a project co-partnered by 'Uranomi' (a student group). The project aims at promoting the tourism and economy of Tohoku, post the destructive East Japan earthquake and tsunami.
The project had launched a contest to award JPY 1 million ($ 9,385) each, to 6 people in order to tour the Tohoku region for a month and to write about its culture, food, scenic beauty and tourist destinations along with lesser-known places.
The main motive is to attract more tourists and to support the local economy. This competition is open to everyone above 18 years old and is on till June 30. To participate, one must visit the website- www.tohoku365.com. There are three rounds of selection process, where one has to upload a self promoting video on a video sharing website, and then get their CV judged and finally give an online interview.
Out of all the applicants, 10 worthy ones will be chosen and will be paid an amount to travel the area, try the cuisine and write or create videos of their travel experience. It is a great opportunity for people to travel abroad and gather experience of new places, food and culture.
People interested in photography, videography, food, and writing must try out the contest to get an experience of a lifetime in Japan!
