A stronger China means a stronger world: Xi Jinping

China will never seek hegemony or expansionism and will pursue a path of ‘peaceful development’, the country's new leader Xi Jinping said on Wednesday.
Xi, who was elected as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China's Central Committee met foreign guests since his election to stress that China seeks peaceful development without detriment to any other country. ‘China is following a path of peaceful development,’ he told a group of foreign experts working in China, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
He said that the country's progress is not a selfish kind that will prove detrimental to other countries. ‘China's development will never be a challenge or a threat to any other country or the world at large,’ Xi said, expounding China's foreign policy.
‘China will never seek hegemony or expansionism,’ said Xi, who is also chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission.
The more China is developed, the more it is conducive to peace and development of the world, he added. Xi said China is not only an active supporter but also a real doer of win-win cooperation in the world, committed to pragmatic cooperation with all other countries and providing assistance to other developing countries as much as it can.
The world has become an international community in which every one shares the same fate, and no country can prosper without others, Xi said, so all countries should make concerted efforts.
He called for a more equal and balanced global partnership to be established so as to safeguard the common interests of all human beings.
‘CUT RED TAPE, REDUCE MEETS, CONNECT WITH PEOPLE’

The new leadership asked officials to slash red tape, including unnecessary visits, meetings and pointless discussions, in a bid to better connect with the general public and stamp out pomp, official media here reported on Wednesday.
Xi, who took over as the General Secretary of the Party last month, has consistently stressed the importance of more work and less talk, state-run China Daily reported. All members of the 360-member Central Committee were urged to understand the real situation facing the society, according to a resolution passed at their meeting on Tuesday. The Politburo said greater attention should be focused on places where social problems are more acute, and inspection tours must be carried out more thoroughly, it said. The resolution also said senior leaders should work and listen to the public and officials at the grassroots and people’s practical problems must be tackled.
The new directive required senior party officials to end any possible displays of ostentation, including slashing spending on visits and cutting unnecessary etiquette.
The number of meetings should also be reduced as should traffic disruption to the general public when officials travelled by road.
