A rare rendezvous

Singer, stand-up comedian Sugandha Mishra feels that music is her life and it is taking her to places. “I have taken hardcore training in classical music since I was four years old from my grandfather Pt Shankar Lal Mishra (Indore gharana). I am the fourth generation in my family who is into music,” she told Millennium Post while she was in the city to promote a comedy series to be telecast on Tata Sky.

“I landed in Mumbai to become a singer but got into comedy by chance. Comedy is a very serious subject and I can’t do dirty comedy nor can I crack jokes on myself thus I go for musical comedy,” she affirmed. Sugandha is happy that the queen of melody Lata Mangeshkar wants to meet her after she had done her mimicry. “It was dream come true for me when Lata didi sent me the message that she wants to meet me after watching my act based on her. She is unwell so I am waiting for the right time to come so that I can meet her,” she affirmed. After making her name in singing and comedy, Sugandha now wants to act in the films. “I have signed a film whose shooting will start somewhere in October but I can’t disclose much about it,” she mentioned. On being asked what preparation she does before her act or live performances, Sugandha stated, “I just remain myself and interact the way I am in real life.”
