A new ward committee to ensure transparency: SDMC

Aiming to ensure transparency between the corporation’s works and the public, the South MCD has announced the formation of a ward committee in every ward under its jurisdiction. The Corporation, after passing a resolution in this regard, said that the newly-constructed committee will ensure clarity in the working process of the corporation, as the Residents Wards Committee will work under the
leadership of the local Municipal Councillor.
The civic body informed that the convener of the committee will be the Junior Engineer (Works) and this Committee shall comprise one member each, from a registered local Residents Welfare Association. (Zonal) Area Sanitary Inspector and Section Officer (Horticulture) will also be parts of the committee. A meeting of the committee will be convened every month in accordance to the resolution. A provision of annual grant amounting to Rs 12,000- Rs 1,000 per meeting and a provision of Rs 30 lakh per ward will be made to carry out development works under the Revised Budget Estimates 2014-15.
The committee will empower the local bodies, including transparency and efficiency of the Municipality.
