A new institute in hospitality sector launched

On the occasion of World Tourism Day, Dr Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State (independent charge) of Tourism & Culture and Minister of State of Civil Aviation, Government of India, inaugurated the Ashok Institute of Hospitality & Tourism Management on Sunday.
AIHTM, a hospitality training institute and the HRD division of India Tourism Development Corporation, with the support of Ministry of Tourism, Government of India has formalised affiliation with the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology and offers a three year Bachelors course in Hospitality and Hotel Administration program.
The first batch of the three-year degree course started in July this year and more than 50 students were admitted in AIHTM.
As one of the prime movers in hospitality and tourism education, AIHTM is presently handling multi-dimensional hospitality related training for in-house and outside agencies.
AIHTM aims to work towards making a difference to the academic culture for the students by offering a globally competitive curriculum and infrastructure. The centre also focuses on contributing significantly to the supply of trained manpower in the hospitality industry.
Looking at the future requirement and huge gap in the demand and supply of trained manpower in the hospitality industry, AIHTM is focusing more on job-orientated short term courses.
Apart from imparting skill development training in areas of food production, F&B services and accommodation operations at <g data-gr-id="30">front</g> office, AIHTM has also added this new <g data-gr-id="31">three year</g> degree course in Hospitality and Hotel Administration. It further intends to add more courses of tourism and allied areas soon.
The Ashok Institute of Hospitality & Tourism Management is a part of the HRD division of India Tourism Development Corporation Ltd., a PSU under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
As part of its contribution towards supplying trained manpower to the Hospitality Industry, ITDC has envisioned to set up a Centre of Excellence in Hospitality Education at Hotel Samrat in New Delhi.
The courses offered by AIHTM are a blend of the rich heritage and culture of India and hospitality management education system. It provides the students with a <g data-gr-id="26">world class</g> contemporary education to have an edge over others in the field.
The program involves in-depth laboratory work for students to acquire required knowledge and skill standards in the operational areas of food Production, Food and Beverage Service, front office operation and Housekeeping.
It also provides managerial inputs in Hotel Accountancy, food Safety and Quality, Human Resource Management, Facility Planning, Financial Management, Strategic Management, Tourism Marketing and Tourism Management.
