For the first time in the city, Delhi Tourism & Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) will celebrate the spirit of the 66th Independence Day, at the Garden of Five Senses, near Saket by hosting a kite flying event.
The programme will see the participation of expert kite fliers from old Delhi. Government officials said that for kite enthusiasts of the old city, kite flying is more than just a relaxing hobby or an intense sport. For them it's a way of life.
Talking to Millennium Post, DTTDC PRO, Sudhir Sobti said, 'We want to create awareness this garden as a place where families can come and enjoy themselves. The kite flying event will not be a competition, but just a demonstration of expert kite flying.'
The organisers said that a major attraction of the event would be a display of 100 kites flying on one thread, which has been specially designed by the renowned kite flier ‘Bhai Miyan and his sons’. Visitors at the garden will also get an opportunity to try their hand at kite flying. The event will be on between 11 am to 8 pm.
