8-yr-old girl plays dead after rape to save life

An eight-year-old girl sleeping in her bed  was allegedly abducted and raped by an unidentified man near her house in the Kirari area of Outer Delhi’s A man Vihar area on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. She could not save herself from being raped but her presence of mind saved 

her from getting killed when she lay motionless and acted dead.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 1 am when the eight-year-old girl was sleeping in a bed with her younger brother inside the house. Meanwhile, her parents and other family members were sleeping in the courtyard. While the parents were asleep, the accused entered the room and took away the girl.

Meanwhile, senior police officers of the Outer district said that one person has been arrested. However, the cops withheld the name.

“We were sleeping outside the house and the house was locked. My daughter was sleeping in the room when  someone entered the house and took her away. It was only when my daughter came to me crying that I realised that something is amiss,” said the girl’s mother.

According to the girl’s mother: “My daughter told me that she was sleeping when a man came and took her to a place 200 metre away from our house. He raped her. After which, he checked to see if my daughter is breathing or not. Pretending to be dead for five minutes, she held on to her breath and lay there motionless. Convinced that my daughter is dead, that man left. Finding the time right, she got up and started running towards the house. However, that man saw her running towards our house and ran after her. However, he tripped over a stone and fell down. Meanwhile, my daughter managed to enter the house and woke us up. She told me and my husband what the man did to her,”“We took her to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial hospital where doctors confirmed that she has been sexually assaulted,” added the girl’s mother.

The girl’s parents reportedly filed a case at the Aman Vihar police station on Sunday. According to the family members of the minor girl, the man was allegedly seen leaving with the child in the CCTV footage of the camera of a house in the locality.
