8-year-old abducted boy rescued from Ajmer, tenant arrested

Delhi Police has solved a kidnapping case of an eight-year-old boy and rescued him from Ajmer, 18 days after he was kidnapped. The accused, Afzal, was a tenant in the victim’s father’s house. The commissioner of Delhi police had also declared a reward of Rs. 50,000 to any one giving clue about whereabouts of the boy. On 29 April, at 5.02 pm a PCR call was received at the Gokul Puri police station about a missing a eight- year-old boy from New Mustafabad, in north-east Delhi.
According to police officials, a milk trader said that on 29 April at 1 pm his eight-year-old son was kidnapped by an unknown person on the way back from his school. The boy is a student at Edunova Islamic School, in New Mustafabad.
A case was registered at Gokul Puri police station based on his statement and investigation was started.
During the course of investigation, children’s homes, abandoned parks, mortuaries, hospitals and nalas were all searched.
An all-India wireless message was flashed and notices were pasted at railway stations, ISBTs and other prominent public places in Delhi and the national capital region. Details of the missing child were provided to cable operators so that it could be telecast. 'The same night it was found that the complainant’s tenant, 28-year-old Afzal, was also missing which made the cops suspect his involvement in the crime. Members of Afzal’s families were questioned, but no clue was found to the missing boy or the tenant' said a police official.
During further investigation, raids were conducted at Afzal's native place in UP and New Delhi and other places where Afzal’s relatives were living. 'It was found out that in the past, Afzal had kidnapped a 6-year-old male child and he had been rescued in a safe condition after 18 days from Gurgaon. He used to tell the neighbours there that the child was his own son. Afzal’s brother, Intizar, was also interrogated, but he had no clue about Afzal’s whereabouts,' said a police official.
On 15 May on the basis of a tip off, a special team from Gokul Puri police station raided various places on thw Ajmer – Jaipur Highway.
They finally found the child and the accused walking along the highway near a village in Rajasthan and were immediately apprehended.
