8 injured due to cylinder blast near Mandir Marg

At about 3 am, eight people have been injured due to a cylinder blast in Lady Hardinge Staff quarter in Mandir Marg area of New Delhi district. Out of the eight, three of them have been critically injured.
The incident took place when all the persons who received injuries were sleeping in room number 127. Suddenly, they heard a loud noise and their room started burning. A call was made to the fire station and after the fire officers along with 6 fire tenders reached the place, they managed to take the victims out of it.
All the injured were immediately rushed to the nearby hospital. The three who were suffering from critical burn injuries are still under the hospital care. However, the remaining five have been declared out of danger.
According to an official, the quarter was provided to the staff members of Lady Hardinge hospital, but few of the members have rented their quarter to other people. In the similar way, room no. 127 was rented to few mechanics who work in the near by garage in that area.
