70,000 evacuated to safety

Government on Monday said so far there is no rise in the water level of river Kosi and there is no imminent danger but all precautionary measures are in place to deal with any eventuality. More than 70,000 people, who may be affected in case of floods in Kosi, have been evacuated to safety camps.

The National Crisis Management Committee, headed by Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth, met this afternoon to review the situation of the impending rise in water level in Kosi due to a landslide and blockade upstream in Nepal.
