Satya Gupta, the deceased was returning to her flat at the sixth floor of the apartment. She pressed the lift button from the ground floor but instead of stopping properly at the ground level, the elevator remained few inches above the floor.

She was immediately rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
‘Severe injury marks were found on her body that may have led to her death. She may have also died due to the cardiac arrest. We are still waiting for the autopsy reports,’ the official said.
During investigation, it was learnt that one of the lifts was non-functional for the past few days. The residents were using the alternate lift which was also not maintained properly by the authorities. A case of death due to negligence has been registered against unknown persons at New Ashok Nagar police station and further investigation is underway.
