70 traffic police teams to be deployed on New Year eve

A total of 70 traffic police teams along with other police officers, deputed in Police Control Room (PCR) vehicles, will man Delhi’s roads for safe New Year’s eve celebrations. The police personnel will be deployed 31 December around 7 pm onward till the New Year has been ushered in and celebrations end. ‘Traffic police will deploy 70 teams to check drunken driving,’ said additional commissioner of police (traffic) Anil Shukla.
‘Drunken drivers will be fined Rs.2,000 apart from suspension of their driving licences. The defaulters may get a jail term,’ Shukla added. ‘Special pickets will be installed in coordination with area police to check stunt mobike riders, overspeeding apart from reckless, zig-zag and dangerous driving,’ further added Shukla. Special arrangements have been made for the places in the vicinity of Connaught Place.
