Delhi Police arrested a 60-year-old man, Mohrram Ali for allegedly making hoax calls to police about bombs and terrorists at New Delhi Railway station and Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI).
In two different incidents on February 19, the authorities at the New Delhi Railway station and IGI Airport received hoax calls following which the security agencies had swung into action. However, nothing suspicious was found in both the incidents.
In one call he informed that a bomb has been planted at platform No 14-15 of New Delhi Railway Station and in another call he demanded to get released Kanhaiya Kumar, the JNU students’ union president and said otherwise bombs have been planted in the Departure Hall of Terminal-3, IGI Airport with the intend to explode the Airport. These calls created panic in the area of New Delhi and Airport. The situation became horrible further when the caller’s location was established at the airport itself.
Later the calls were found to be hoax. During investigation, the facts emerged that a PCR call regarding bomb at railway platform had also been made two hours prior to the call of airport from the same mobile number, which was also found to be a hoax. Detailed investigation plans were chalked out and relentless follow up efforts zeroed in on the accused Mohrram Ali, who was thoroughly interrogated. When the accused was confronted with the hard facts, he broke down and confessed his crime.
