6-yr-old dies after reckless Metro feeder bus driver hits, sends him flying

A six-year-old boy was crushed to death by a metro feeder bus in West Delhi’s Janakpuri area on Monday morning. According to the police, the minor has been identified as Pankaj. He was standing with his mother near the Uttam Nagar bus stand when a speeding metro feeder bus hit him.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case under Sections 304A of the IPC and have arrested the errant driver, Manmohan. The incident took place at around 9 am when Pankaj was standing on the road under the bus stop with his mother, Pratima. They were waiting for their bus when a Metro feeder bus, plying between Uttam Nagar and Inderlok, driven recklessly by Manmohan hit the six-year-old boy.
Eyewitnesses told police that the impact of the accident was such that the boy was flung a few feet in the air before falling on the road. He suffered severe injuries on his head and other body parts. Some onlookers rushed to help the injured boy and his mother.
According to a police officer, one constable who was patrolling the area rushed the boy to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. “One of them alerted Constable Deep Chand who was passing by the area and he rushed the boy to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, the boy’s life could not be saved,” said the officer adding the errant driver was caught by the public when he attempted to flee from the accident spot.
The driver, identified as Manmohan, was arrested after a case of rash and negligent driving causing death was registered against him at the Janakpuri police station. Pankaj is survived by his parents and other family members who live in the Janakpuri area.
