Body of a six-year-old boy was found in a forested area near a public school at Lal Kuan locality in South-East Delhi’s Pul Prahladpur area on Tuesday morning.
There were several cut marks on the boy’s face, neck, chest and arms. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The body was sent for postmortem and the time and actual cause of death are yet to be established, said a senior police official.
At around 8 am, a few locals noticed the body and called up the police control room. Later a case under Section 302 (murder) was registered against an unknown person at the Pul Prahladpur police station. The police also ruled out probabilities of sexual assault for the time being.
The boy was identified as Vijay, a resident of Khera village in Faridabad, which is around 3.5 kms away from the public school in which he studied. He was wearing his school uniform and his identity was established from his identity card. When the police visited the school, it emerged that the boy did not attend classes on Monday. “From preliminary investigation, it was the deep wound on the boy’s neck which caused his death,” said the police official.
