6-year-old raped by neighbour, critical

A six-year-old girl was raped by her neighbour in Mandawali area of east Delhi, late on Saturday evening. The victim is in hospital and her condition is reported to be critical. The accused has been arrested.
According to police, the girl was playing outside her residence when Aalam, 29, called her to his room. He then raped her.
Later, Aalam threw the girl out of his room and threatened her. The girl reached her home and narrated the incident to her mother, who first went to the house of the accused but found it locked.
She then got a complaint lodged at Mandawali police station.
Medical examination confirmed rape, after which a case under section-376 (rape) was registered against Aalam. He was apprehended after a man-hunt in the area.
‘The girl has been admitted to Lal Bahadaur Shastri hospital. Her father works with a private firm and was out of town during the incident,’ an official said.
