6-year-old girl, teacher die after school van hits bus

In a tragic incident, a six-year-old school girl and a 43-year-old woman teacher died while the driver was critically injured when their school van rammed into a speeding bus in Greater Noida on Thursday morning.
Police said that they were on their way to school when they met with the accident. According to the police, the driver did not notice the approaching bus and collided head on with it.
The school teacher died on the spot while the girl and the driver were admitted to a private hospital where the school girl succumbed to her injuries while the condition of the driver is stated to be critical. Police have registered a case against the bus driver who is still at large.
A police team reached the spot and all three were taken to the nearby Kailash Hospital where the school teacher, Kanta, was declared brought dead while the girl, Akansha, and the driver Ankur were admitted in the ICU. Owing to severe injuries in her body, Akansha succumbed in evening while Ankur (20) is recuperating. “We have registered a case and investigation is underway. We have also been checking whether the school van had adopted safety norms or not. If school authority is found guilty, appropriate action will be taken against them,” said a senior police official.
According to the police, the accident took place around 7.30 am when a Maruti Eeco van of the Shakuntla Devi Memorial School was on its way from Ghodi Bacheda village to the school located in Greater Noida. When the van reached near Honda crossing, it collided with the bus which was coming from the opposite direction.
The impact of the accident was so severe that the front and right portions of the van as well as front part of bus was completely damaged. The passers-by rescued the victims and a PCR call was made. Meanwhile, the errant bus driver fled from the spot.
