6-year-old allegedly raped by juvenile neighbour in Shaheen Bagh

A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a juvenile on Thursday evening in south-east Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh area. The accused was apprehended and was produced before Juvenile Justice Board.
At around 5.45 pm, the 17-year-old boy known to the girl, reached the victim’s residence and asked her to come along to play in his flat. When the girl went to his house in the same colony, he raped her. Before releasing her, he threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed the matter to anybody.
When she came out of the accused’s residence she started crying and a passer-by, who was a resident of the same colony, noticed her. She narrated the ordeal to him who called the police. But the juvenile managed to escape.
Based on her allegations and medical confirmation of rape, a case has been registered against him and on Friday he was arrested from his friend’s residence.
A case under section of rape (376) and other sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences. Act, 2012, was lodged at the Jamia Nagar police station. The juvenile is a school drop-out and was known to both the minor girl and her family.
