6 held for beating shopkeeper in Nehru Place

The police have arrested six persons in connection with the brutal assault on a shopkeeper and his 16-year-old son in Nehru Place area last Monday over parking issue.
The six youths, all aged between 19 and 21, have been booked for attempt to murder and rioting. Apart from the arrested accused, the police is searching the whereabouts of other persons who were also involved in the road rage incident. “They have been identified as Imran, Suraj and Vineet and a man-hunt is on to nab them,” a police official said.
On 8 December , at around 11:30 am, two boys came to Mansarovar Building in Nehru Place and parked their motorcycle in front of the scrap shop of Shakil, a resident of East of Kailash. Shakil asked them to remove their motorcycle from there following which, a heated argument followed by a scuffle took place between the two boys and Shakil. Later Faijan, son of Shakil also joined the scuffle to save his father from being assaulted. The boys left the place on their bike after extending threat for dire consequences.
Few hours later, the boys along with their other associates again reached at Shakil’s shop and started beating him and his son mercilessly. They also allegedly stabbed them before escaping from the spot. “Shakil and his son Faijan sustained severe stab injuries and were rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre.
A case of attempted murder-cum-rioting was registered at Kalkaji police station. The CCTV footage of the area showed the suspects arriving at the crime spot and fleeing later. Interrogation of local criminals finally led police to one of the accused Dinesh Soni. At his instance, five other suspects were arrested, a police officer privy to investigation said.
