55-yr-old brutally hacks wife to death with axe, arrested

When the police reached the couple’s residence at the Roopali Enclave colony in outer Delhi’s Kanjhawla, they found the woman’s body lying in a pool of blood, with the axe beside her, and wound so deep that the woman was almost half-decapitated.

However, the husband, identified as Aziz Khan, allegedly changed his mind and had fled the scene by then. A manhunt was launched immediately to nab him and he was arrested from Kanjhawla area in the evening, said a police official.

Aziz and his deceased wife, Tahira (47), lived in the house with their younger son Imran (21) who had gone to a gym when the incident took place. Their 24-year-old elder son lives in Kanpur. Their neighbours reportedly told the police that the couple had a heated argument on Wednesday morning, in <g data-gr-id="32">fact</g> the often had fights.

“After the argument, Aziz Khan took brought out an axe from the veranda and hit <g data-gr-id="31">Tahire</g> on the neck. He later fled the spot after making a PCR call around 8 am,” said the police official. He also said that Aziz had also called up his son Imran at the gym and told him that he had killed his mother in a fit of rage.

He further said that the police have seized the murder weapon and the body was sent for postmortem. The police have registered a case of murder at Kanjhawala police station and several teams were formed to arrest Aziz.

The police had also planned to send a team to Kanpur, which is Aziz’s native place. Aziz Khan is a tailor and had been staying with his family in Roopali Enclave colony of Kanjhawala for the past many years. Aziz was also reportedly angry with Tahira after she purchased a house in Kanpur without informing him, the source added.
