55-year-old held for raping minors

A 55-year-old worker was arrested for raping two minor girls over the past few months. The two victims were his daughter’s friends. The incident took place in west Delhi's Rajauri Garden.
According to the police, the accused, who has been identified as Surender Singh, was arrested on late Saturday night soon after the complaint was registered by the parents of the two victims.
Singh is the victims’ neighbour and shared a good relationship with their family.
The incident happened when the two girls were visiting the accused’s house to meet his daughter.
All three, the two victims and the accused’s daughter, are students of class V at a school in Rajauri Garden.
A few months back, the victims visited the house to meet their friend, but found Singh alone at home. The accused allegely raped the two girls one by one. He also threatened to kill them if they spoke of the insident to anyone.
After few days, Singh allegedly made up an excuse to call the two girls to his house and raped them again.
The victims were so traumatised that they didn’t share their experience with anyone.
It was only after Singh shifted residence to another nearby colony that one of the girl found the courage to speak up.
When her parents got to know about the incident, her father approached the parents of the other victim.
Both the families approached the local police station and on the basis of the victim girls' statement, a medical examination was conducted that confirmed rape.
Soon after the complaint, the investigating team approached the accused’s residence and apprehended him.
On Saturday night, Singh was arrested and has been booked under the appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code.
MECHANIC HELD FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT
A motor mechanic was arrested here for raping a married woman, police said on Sunday. Jagdeep Singh, 42, a resident of Khandsa near sector 37 of Gurgaon, was arrested for sexually assaulting a 21-year-old married woman. The victim, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, lived with her husband in a rented house at Khandsa, police said. 'She was called by the accused to his shop on the pretext of interview for a job and was taken to a secluded room and raped,' Madan Singh, chief of Kherki Daula police station.
The accused was Sunday presented before a magistrate who sent him to judicial custody for 14 days, police said.
