51 Lok Sabha poll applications rejected by EC

Nomination papers of 156 candidates, including those from Congress, BJP and AAP, for the 10 April Lok Sabha polls f were accepted after scrutiny on Monday, while 51 were rejected.

The rejections were due to faults in their applications. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is 26 March. According to EC officials, a maximum number of 29 candidates are contesting from New Delhi constituency, while a minimum of 15 are from North West Delhi.

Prominent leaders Kapil Sibal, Harsh Vardhan and Rajmohan Gandhi, Ajay Maken, Meenakshi Lekhi and Sandeep Dikshit among others are in the fray for seven constituencies here. Congress which has won all the seven seats in 2009 Lok Sabha elections have re-nominated all the sitting MPs. Bhojpuri actor-singer Manoj Tiwari and actor Biswajit Chatterjee are also contesting elections from BJP and TMC tickets respectively.
