4th International Kite Festival kickstarts in Dwarka

An international kite festival organised by the Delhi Tourism department on Saturday began in Dwarka, with professional kite flying experts from India and abroad exhibiting their skills and leaving the visitors delighted.

The three-day festival held at Dwarka’s DDA ground was inaugurated by Delhi Tourism minister Kapil Mishra, who said these festivals provide people an opportunity to unite.

“It is a good start to boost Indian culture. Kites have been an integral part of our Independence Day celebrations. Some states make a competition out of this event. Hopefully, with this festival, Delhi will be more excited for kite flying,” said Mishra.

International kite flyers from Germany, Korea, the US, China, Thailand, Ukraine, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Netherlands and Malaysia participated and demonstrated their talents during the fourth Delhi International Kite Festival.

Expert kite flyers from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Jaipur, Chennai, Kerala, Punjab and Delhi also displayed their skills on the first day of the festival.

Colourful kites dotted the skyline but the highlights were a kite trail of nearly 150 kites and night kite flying.

During a special demonstration, professional flyers demonstrated the art of making kites.
