47 bonded labourers rescued after NHRC intervention

Forty-seven bonded labourers were rescued from two brick kilns in <g data-gr-id="13">Maandal</g> of Rajasthan’s Bhilwara district following <g data-gr-id="12">intervention</g> of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). NHRC filed an FIR under Section 379 of the IPC and Section 4/21 of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 against ‘Bajrang Brick Kiln’ at <g data-gr-id="14">Duvala</g> in Maandal police station area for operating without permit. “In case of ‘Jaishree Brick Kiln’ in the same area, it was found that the owner, though having a valid licence from the Government of Rajasthan, was not maintaining records as per provisions of labour laws. “The labourers were being paid only living expenses and not proper wages,” said the Commission.
