45-yr-old man, aide held for abducting property dealer

A 45-year-old man along with his associate have been arrested for abducting a property dealer and demanding a ransom of Rs 16 <g data-gr-id="21">lakh,</g> while the third accused is on <g data-gr-id="20">run</g>. The victim has been rescued by the police.

The victim, identified as Ravi Deshwal, is a resident of West Delhi’s Janakpuri area and stays with his family. On Wednesday, he was abducted for refusing to hand over a plot of land despite receiving the payment. The accused have been identified as Birju (45) and Kuldeep (43) were arrested. During the course of sustained interrogation, the accused disclosed that Birju had booked a plot for a sum of Rs 6 lakh, out of which he had paid Rs 4 lakh but the plot was not booked by Ravi and on demanding to return back the payment by Birju, he gave him cheques of Rs 4 lakh. 

“The given cheques bounced because of <g data-gr-id="25">insufficient</g> amount in the account. On Wednesday, Birju and his two associates Kuldeep and Kake kidnapped him in their Santro car and took him to Sector 4, Rohini. He was beaten up and was held hostage,” the official said. On the basis of technical surveillance and developed local information, raids were conducted at possible hideouts of the criminals. Following a <g data-gr-id="23">tip off</g>, Ravi was safely rescued from the clutches of the accused persons. “Raids are going on to nab the third accused,” he added.
