45-year-old occultist killed, cops smell personal enmity

A 45-year-old occultist meditating in a forested land was found dead in South-west Delhi’s Chhawla area on early Saturday morning. According to the police, they received information at 5:45 am that a man identified as Shiv Kumar has been found dead. Senior police officers have not ruled out the possibility of a personal enmity as one of the motives behind the murder.

Police said that the incident came to light in the early hours of Saturday when a local villager was passing through the forested land and spotted Kumar lying in a pool of blood. He made a PCR call after which police rushed the body to a nearby hospital.

Preliminary investigation suggests that Kumar was attacked with a spade on his head. Police found out that Kumar used to do drugs and claimed to possess powers.  Despite repeated pleas from his family to focus on his work, he went into the forested land where the next day he was found dead.
“A case of murder has been registered under Sections 302 of the Indian Penal Code at the Chhawla police station against unknown persons. Investigation is on,” said a senior police officer.

Kumar is survived by his wife and children. Meanwhile, police said that they are looking at all angles and are interrogating local villagers to establish the exact sequence of events. Further investigation is underway.
