40-year-old auto driver crushed to death by truck

A 40-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was crushed to death by a truck on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday on the DND Flyover. The errant driver is yet to be identified. The cops, however, have recovered the CCTV footage of the incident.

According to police, the incident took place at around 3 am when the auto-rickshaw driver identified as Pooran was coming from Noida to Delhi. Suddenly, a speeding truck hit his auto-rickshaw from behind and dragged it till 100 meters. The errant driver immediately fled the spot.

The incident came to light when Pradeep, a patrolling guard on DND saw Pooran lying unconscious in a pool of blood. He made a call to the police control room and a team rushed to the spot. They immediately rushed Pooran to AIIMS Trauma Centre where he was declared dead. Later, with the help of his driving license, his identity was established and his family was informed.

Meanwhile, a CCTV footage of the accident has been recovered and based on it the cops are trying to identify the culprit. 

Teams have been formed who are probing the case that has been registered in Sunlight Colony police station under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
