40 trains diverted, 13 others cancelled after derailment

Following a train derailment in Hapur on Sunday night, around 40 trains running on the Delhi-Moradabad route have been diverted, while nine passenger trains and four mail express trains were cancelled.

The Northern Railway said on Monday that two of the coaches of the 14206 Delhi-Faizabad Padmavat Express which derailed on Sunday night have been re-railed and the track is expected to be repaired by 4 pm.

“Two coaches of the train have been re-railed while remaining six have been kept off the track. We will pick them later. The track repair work is likely to be completed by 4 pm. The General Manager of Northern Railways is himself at the site to monitor the repair work,” said Neeraj Sharma, CPIO (Central Public Information Officer) of Northern Railways.

He added that around 40 trains running on the route were diverted while nine passenger trains and four mail expresses were cancelled.

“We have alternative route available. The diverted trains are running via Delhi to Meerut/Aligarh route,” Sharma said. He also said there were no serious casualties due to the accident. “Two passengers sustained minor injuries,” he added.
