4-year-old boy dies of electrocution while playing

A 4-year-old boy died of electrocution at his house in North-east Delhi’s Nand Nagri area on Wednesday evening.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Ayaan. He was playing in the courtyard when his hand got stuck inside a motor as he was trying to take out the ball which had fallen inside a water cooler. Unattended, he tried to take out the ball all by himself but his hand got stuck inside the motor and he fainted.
According to the police, the incident took place at around 6 pm when Ayaan was playing in the courtyard of his house. Both his parents are daily wage labourers. His grandmother was sitting inside the house when she heard his loud scream and rushed to see his hand stuck. On seeing him unconscious, the grandmother informed the neighbours who then informed Ayaan’s father who rushed him to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The boy is survived by his parents, a brother and a sister.
“A case has been registered against unknown persons under Sections 304 A (causing death due to negligence) and 287 (Negligent conduct with respect to machinery) of the IPC at the Nand Nagri police station,” said A K Singla, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-east).
