4 suspected Maoist rebels nabbed

Four suspected Maoist rebels have been arrested from Assam’s Dibrugarh district and arms, ammunition and incriminating documents seized from their possession, police said Sunday.
The four rebels, identified as Anup Hazarika, Ritul Das, Biraj Sutradhar and Dhiraj Dihingia were arrested in Chabua area on Saturday night, police said on Sunday. A pistol, five rounds of live ammunition and incriminating documents were recovered from their possession, police said.
Dibrugarh Superintendent of Police Arabinda Kalita said the arrested rebels are being interrogated for more details. Left-wing extremism is a recent phenomenon in Assam.
The state govt has already identified several districts where the Maoist activities are growing and asked the deputy commissioners concerned to implement more developmental schemes in the areas.
