4 robbers, accused of looting over Rs 20L from traders, held

The arrested persons have been identified as Ravi (25), Krishan Kumar (29), Manikant (21), Kishan (24). ‘A joint operation of officials from Gulabi Bagh police station and operation cell, led to the arrest of four dreaded robbers, who were involved in five incidents of robbery. Cash worth Rs 2 lakhs, one gold chain and one FZ motor cycle were recovered from their possession,’ Madhur Verma, DCP (North) said.
During interrogation one of the arrested men confessed to the police that he would select the target and commit the robbery with help of his associates.
He further told police that he could tell it from the body language of the victim that how much money they person is carrying. The police informed that the gang chose those areas where there were no CCTV cameras. ‘So far, they have looted over Rs 20 lakh in five such incidents,’ police claimed. The police also said the gang operated on particular tips given to them by their informer Manikant in the area of Chandni Chowk and Kucha Ghasi Ram markets. They only used to target businessmen carrying cash on two wheelers.
‘The informer used to inform the gang members about victims carrying cash, his description and vehicle numbers. As soon as victim would leave for the destination, the robbers would chase him and loot him at an isolated place by threatening him with deadly weapons.
The police is also investigation their involvements in similar such cases from other adjoining areas. Further investigation is under progress,’ the DCP added.
