4 members held for drug cartel by Special Cell

Delhi Police’s Special Cell has arrested four key members of an international narcotic drug cartel including two foreign nationals and recovered 4 kg heroin worth Rs 16 crore in the international market.

The accused persons have been identified as Surender Singh (36) who hails from Punjab, Balwinder Singh (53) a resident of Punjab, Micheal Chinedu Chukwudi (36), a Nigerian national and Catherine Leonard Mrope (26) a Tanzanian National.

In a secret information, it was learnt that heroin is being received from some African nationals for further supply to Punjab and Delhi-NCR. On July 30, it was learnt that Surender had come to Delhi in a white swift car and had already procured a big consignment of heroin from African nationals, who reside in the area of Pochanpur, Dwarka. It was further found that both the above persons — Balwinder and Surender would come to supply the heroin to one of their contacts near the petrol pump opposite Rohini Jail. Immediately a tarp was laid and Balwinder and Surender were apprehended with 3 kg heroin.

“They disclosed that they were a part of a big international narcotic syndicate and used to get supply of heroin from persons of African origin in Pochanpur, Dwarka areas. They also told that they had received consignment of 3 kg heroin from these people. They also said that these suppliers have taken two-three flats in Pochanpur and one house in Sector-38 Gurgaon on rent, where they used to keep the heroin,” Sanjeev Yadav, DCP (Special Cell) said.

He further said that during a raid, the duo was also arrested along with fake passports. It has been noticed that the recovered fake passports and visa stickers were prepared with master perfection. 
Investigation to identify other persons indulging in preparation of these forged passport and visa stickers is being conducted as it involves serious security issues also. They told police that they have been supplying heroin to various drugs suppliers in Punjab. Further probe is underway, said police.
