4 drug traffickers held with `12 cr cache

In two separate operations, Delhi Police has arrested four alleged drug traffickers and recovered banned drugs worth Rs 12 crore from them including one kg heroin.

In the first instance, Special Cell of Delhi Police busted an interstate narcotic syndicate with the arrest of Rampal (48), Ved Prakash alias <g data-gr-id="29">Mistri</g> (38) and <g data-gr-id="30">Sabrati</g> Shah alias Sabir (41). Police have registered <g data-gr-id="26">case</g> under NDPS Act against them after one kg heroin and five kg opium were recovered from the trio in this connection.

“We had information about this syndicate since the last six months about drug trafficking activities of the said syndicate, which was active in Delhi, UP and MP. Discreet surveillance was kept upon movements of one <g data-gr-id="31">Delhi based</g> member of the syndicate Rampal and his associate drug suppliers,” said DCP (Special Cell) Madhur Verma. 

Finally, Rampal was arrested on May 24 when he came on his bike under Loni Flyover to deliver a consignment of heroin. One kg heroin was recovered from his possession. He was subjected to thorough interrogation about his network. He disclosed that he had brought the recovered heroin from one Ved Prakash of Bareilly, UP.  He has a good network of supply of heroin in Delhi, Haryana, UP, Rajasthan and MP. Rampal used to get supply of heroin from various persons of UP and MP, he added. 

In continuation of <g data-gr-id="34">investigation</g> of <g data-gr-id="35">above</g> case, a team was sent to Bareilly, UP which arrested Ved Prakash on May 27. Arrested Rampal had also disclosed that he used to get supply of opium and heroin from <g data-gr-id="37">Subrati</g> Shah, a resident of <g data-gr-id="38">Mandsore</g>, MP. <g data-gr-id="39">Subrati</g> Shah was arrested on May 29 from near Khajuri Chowk, Delhi at instance of Rampal and five kg opium was recovered from his possession. He had to deliver the said consignment to Rampal. 

Efforts to arrest other associates of arrested drug suppliers are being made, police said. In the second case, Crime Branch apprehended one alleged drug trafficker Sunil Sharma (50) on May 30 and has recovered 20.2 kg of Ephedrine worth Rs two crore in the international market.
