A 38-year-old man was dragged out of his office and shot dead by four unidentified men in North-east Delhi’s Seelampur area on Monday night. According to the police, Mahender Chand Ramola, who runs a garments’ export business suffered multiple bullet injuries after which he died on the spot.
“Based on the CCTV footage accessed by the police, four unidentified men, two on a scooty and two on a motorcycle came and started firing. Six rounds were fired out of which four hit Mahender. After killing him, they fled from the spot,” said a senior police officer.
On being asked if there was a threat to Ramola’s life, Pratap Singh, Mahender’s brother said: “Five to six days ago my brother received a call from an unknown person telling him that his life is in danger. Based on this instance, we informed the local police but the caller could not be traced.”
According to a senior police official, Mahender was an informer and had helped police in cracking one or two cases. “For the past one-and-a-half-years he was in touch with the local police. Since he was also in touch with local criminals, it is probable that the motive behind his murder is rivalry,” added the official. Ramola is survived by his wife and two sons.
