35-yr-old maid found hanging in excise officer’s house

A 35-year-old domestic help was found hanging at the residence of a Central Excise officer here on Tuesday morning, police said. Kavita was found dead under mysterious circumstances at the residence of Ramesh Kumar, a superintendent in the Central Excise, in Lajpat Nagar area here, they said.

Kavita had been working at Ramesh’s house for seven years, police said.

Ramesh, posted at Meerut, had gone to Allahabad to meet his wife and son on Friday. Before leaving, he handed over keys of the house to Kavita.

Ramesh told police when he returned home this morning, he found the main gate locked from inside.

He knocked at the door several times but there was no response, police said.

Kavita’s husband Rajesh Kumar alleged Kavita was first murdered and then her body was hanged.
