A 35-year-old businesswoman from Kazakhstan, who was staying at a hotel in central Delhi’s Karol Bagh area, alleged that she was raped by three men on Thursday night.
The three accused — two of them identified as drivers and the other a travel agent — were arrested by the police under relevant sections of IPC, said a senior police official, without disclosing the names of the accused persons.
He further said that the culprits were known to the woman from around the past two years.
The woman, who is reported to be dealing in garment business in Kazakhstan, told the police that she used to visit India almost every month and often stayed in the same hotel.
While one of the accused drivers used to pick her up and drop her at the airport, the other drove her to places in the city. The accused travel agent often got her tickets done and booked rooms for her.
However, on Thursday night, the woman reportedly went to another hotel to meet one of the accused persons and soon the other two joined them.
She alleged that she was gang-raped in the concerned hotel room, said a police official.
Officials of Kazakhstan embassy were also asked to assist in the probe. The police also asked them to arrange for a translator as the woman couldn’t speak English fluently.
Meanwhile, the three accused, aged between 35 and 40 years, were detained at the Karol Bagh police station.
