34 FIRs lodged after raids conducted across city to curb illegal LPG sale

The department of food, supplies and consumer affairs of Delhi conducted several raids to curb illegal sale of small cooking gas cylinders and lodged 34 FIRs in various areas of the city.

‘The raid is likely to continue till late Thursday night in various parts of the city. We have constituted 53 teams who have inspected 162 premises so far,’ said S S Yadav, commissioner of the department. 

Out of the 162 premises inspected, 34 were found engaged in illegal filling of small LPG cylinders from the standard LPG cylinders. 
The department has lodged a police complainant against all the 34 violators under Essential Commodities Act, 1955. 

The officers have also seized 315 LPG cylinders from these premises and also the instruments used for refilling of the gases.

If convicted, violators may face imprisonment up to seven years. 

Main areas where raids were conducted and violations have been found are Kishanganj, Sadar Bazar, Regarpura, Mahipalpur, Kapashehara, Dabri, Uttam Nagar, Dakshinpuri, Govindpuri, Rahgubir 
Nagar, Khyala, Mayapuri, Nangloi, Kotla Mubarakpur, Sarojini Nagar, Azadpur, Wazirpur, Shakur Basti, Burari, Shahbad Daultatpur, Rithala, Sultanpur, Padam Singh Road and Jwala Nagar.
