33-yr-old beaten to death in Anand Parbat area

A 33-year-old man was reportedly beaten to death by two persons when a minor argument escalated into a scuffle in the Anand Parbat area of Central Delhi on late Sunday night. According to the senior police officers of the Central district, the victim identified as Radhey Shyaam was allegedly getting drenched in the rain near his house when two men in an inebriated state approached him and started fighting with him over a trivial issue. 

Meanwhile, the police arrested both the accused — identified as Shashi Bhushan and Pankaj. The weapon used in the commission of crime has also been recovered.

The incident was reported at around 10:30 pm that a man was being beaten up by two persons in gali number 4, industrial area of Anand Parbat on Sunday night. Based on the PCR call, local police rushed to the spot but found that the injured man had already been admitted to Lady Hardinge hospital where Shyaam died during the course of treatment, said a police officer.

Sources said that Shyaam was bludgeoned to death in front of his father who was pleading the accused to spare his son’s life. Shyaam used to work as a labourer in a factory.

According to senior police officers, based on the technical surveillance i.e. CCTV footage recovered from nearby place and with sustained efforts of local intelligence, cops managed to trace down location of the accused. While one of them,  identified as Shashi Bhushan was apprehended from near Railway lines in Jakhira, the other accused, Pankaj, was apprehended on Bhushan’s instance.

During sustained interrogation, the duo admitted to beating up Shyaam. They told cops that they drank liquor in their factory in Anand Parbat and were heading back home on their motorcycle. En route, they saw Shyaam getting drenched in the rain. They passed some objectionable comments due to which an argument followed between them and the victim. Enraged, the duo accused started beating Shyaam with wooden sticks and hit his head. After which, they fled on their motorcycle.
A case of murder has been registered at the Anand Parbat police station against the accused.
