32-yr-old hit with cylinder for having illicit relationship with friend’s wife, dies

A 32-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death with an empty gas cylinder by his friend when the former found out that the latter is engaged in an illicit relationship with his wife in the Shastri Nagar area of North Delhi’s Sarai Rohilla on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
The victim, Gautam, worked with the accused, Aryan Das in a jewellery unit in Karol Bagh area and had gone to Aryan’s house in Shastri Nagar where they entered a heated argument. In a fit of rage, Aryan smashed Gautam with an empty gas cylinder. Senior police officers of the North district said that they have arrested Aryan.
According to the police, the incident was reported to them at around 3 am when neighbours heard loud noises coming from Aryan’s house. When one of them went upstairs, he found a man lying in a pool of blood. On this, the neigbhours raised an alarm and informed the police.
Police rushed the man identified as Gautam to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on admission.
Preliminary investigation suggested that Gautam had given Aryan a room to stay on rent last year.
Police said that they took Gautam’s wife in custody for questioning. She spilled the beans about her affair with Aryan.
When Gautam got to know this, he started threatening Aryan to leave the room. Police have registered a case under appropriate sections of the IPC at the Sarai Rohilla police station against the accused. Further investigation is on.
