32 five-star hotels sign MOU to preserve natural resources

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday appreciated the efforts of the department of environment and Delhi Pollution Control Committee for taking an important initiative to bring 32 five-star hotels of the city together to express their commitment to preserve and conserve natural resources.
An MoU was signed on Monday between the Department of Environment, government of Delhi and 32 five-star hotels for compliance to Green Hotel Guidelines in the city.
The chairman, Public Grievance Commission, PK Tripathi, advisor (Reforms and Innovation), secretary (Environment) Sanjiv Kumar and other senior officers of the city government were present on this occasion.
Dikshit referred to a bold and timely step taken to introduce CNG in all commercial and public transport vehicles by her government and expediting the commissioning of the Delhi Metro.
She was happy of the fact that some of the five-star hotels have already been utilising solar power and recycling their waste.
