31-yr-old spurned suitor kills self near India Gate

After being refused by the girl he loves and her family members, he took this extreme step and left a suicide note.The deceased has been identified as Sheshnath, a resident of Nangloi, who was spotted by a passerby at around 7 am, who made a call to the police control room.
It is suspected that Sheshnath committed suicide late on Sunday night. The incident also raised questions over the sincerity of police patrolling in the high-security zone.
He was identified by an identity card found in his pocket. His left leg was disabled.
A suicide note was also found from his pocket. A police team rushed him to the nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. The body has been sent for post-mortem, which would reveal the exact time of death.
“We have recovered a suicide note, where he mentions that he was in love with a girl who resides nearby. When he approached her for marriage, she refused the proposal and later Sheshnath went to her parents, who also denied him. They also warned him to stay away from their daughter. The episode left him disturbed and he committed suicide,” said Vijay Singh Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi).
He was unemployed and lived with his family in West Delhi’s Nangloi area. They have been informed about the incident, he added. Police are questioning his family and friends to zero-in on the exact circumstances, which led him to take the extreme step.
