In a bid to provide free medicines to patients, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has included 31 new generic medicines for free distribution.
‘In addition to medicines already included in the list, 31 new generic medicines have been included for free distribution to the OPD (out-patient department) patients,’ the hospital administration said in a letter to consultants and doctors. The letter further stated that all doctors at AIIMS are advised to prescribe the new medicines in addition to the list circulated earlier. ‘It is once again requested to prescribe generic medicines only as far as possible, as per the Medical Council of India direction,’ the letter said.
