3 suffer electric shock at b’day party on restaurant’s terrace, owner on the run

Three men suffered severe a electric shock while celebrating a birthday party on the terrace of a restaurant in South-West Delhi’s Sagarpur area on Saturday. The police said the condition of two of them was critical, while the third victim is stable.

The police said the incident took place around 9:30 pm at the terrace of JD Restaurant in Varishth Park, opposite to Janakpuri Cinema hall. Six persons were part of the birthday party of Nitish, 23. After the cake-cutting ceremony, the three, including Nitish, opened their beer bottles and started shaking them to splurt out the beer.

“The beer fell on a high-tension electric wire, hanging loose on the terrace. As a result, the three suffered severe electric shocks. The victims have been identified as Nitish, 23, Rinku, 24, and Ankit, 22,” said a police official.

Their other three friends called the PCR and the police rescued the victims. Rinku and Ankit have been admitted to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, whereas  Nitish is undergoing treatment at Bhagat Hospital in Janakpuri D-Block.  Doctors said Rinku and Ankit were critical, while Nitish was in a stable condition. 

Meanwhile, the restaurant owner is on the run and a case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered against him.“We have registered a case against the restaurant owner. Efforts are on to nab him,” said a police official.
