3 students move HC against Mumbai varsity

Three engineering students on Friday moved the Bombay High Court challenging the decision of Mumbai University to withhold their results as a 'copy case' although they had not been caught copying at the exam.
The petition has been listed before a vacation bench for hearing on Monday.
The petition was filed by Tushar Mahide, first year student of Bachelor of Engineering (Computers), Shaikh Ashteshamuddin, second year student of BE (Civil Eng) and Rohit Wandre, first year BE student of (Electronics and Telecommunication).
All three are studying in different colleges affiliated to the University of Mumbai.
The petitioners had appeared for the First Year Engineering Semester I (revised course) on May 2011 examination at respective centres allotted to them by the University. The results were declared in August 2011 but they were shocked to find that their results showed as 'copy case'.
The petitioners submitted that they immediately met the Controller of Examination who directed them to go to Bandra Kurla Complex police station. On going there, police informed them that they were investigating a case of theft of answer papers of First Year Engineering Course and that their answer sheets were found in the hands of a temporary employee of the University who was accused in a case of copying.
