3 Nigerians held for raping N-E girl

A 22-year-old girl, student of Punjab University, hailing from the North-East was allegedly raped by three Nigerian nationals in the Uttam Nagar area of West Delhi on Monday night. The girl living with her two roommates in Kishangarh area near Vasant Kunj of South Delhi was taken by her roommates to Uttam Nagar on the pretext of shopping.

Sources said that the girl hailing from North-East came to visit her brother for a few days since she was on vacation. However, since her brother was living with two other boys in the Kishangarh area, he shifted his sister to a nearby PG accommodation where two girls from the North-Eastern states were living.

On December 28, the two girls asked out the victim to accompany them for shopping in Uttam Nagar, however, they took her to a room where three Nigerian nationals were staying. Here the 22-year-old girl was raped by one Nigerian while the other two Nigerian nationals tried to rape her. The entire incident took place on Monday night in the presence of the two North-Eastern girls who according to the complainant did not try to save her. The victim somehow managed to escape from the clutches of the culprits and reached her brother’s rented house in the late hours of Monday.

The victim’s brother on Tuesday then accompanied her to the Uttam Nagar police station where a case was registered against the accused persons.

“We detained the two North-Eastern girls and based on their statements, arrested the three Nigerian nationals. Probe is on,” said a senior police official. A case of rape and attempt to rape has been registered at the Uttam Nagar police station against the three Nigerians.

Police tracked the location of the two North-Eastern girls and after extensive interrogation, tracked the three Nigerians and arrested them.
