3 new secretaries appointed

The government has appointed three new secretaries in the Shipping, Overseas Indian Affairs and Corporate Affairs Ministry.

Senior IAS officers Rajive Kumar and Sunil Soni have been appointed as Secretary in Shipping and Overseas Indian Affairs Ministry respectively.

Anjuly Chib Duggal, a 1981 batch IAS officer of Punjab cadre, has also been appointed as Secretary in Corporate Affairs Ministry, an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said.

Kumar, a 1981 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, is working as Special Secretary in Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.

He will take over the charge from Vishwapati Trivedi, a 1977 batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, who superannuates on Sunday, it said.

The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has approved creation of two new posts of Special Secretaries in Overseas Indian Affairs and Corporate Affairs ministries for Soni and Duggal, the order said.

Soni, a 1981 batch IAS officer of Maharashtra cadre, has been appointed as Special Secretary, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs with immediate effect against the newly created post. He will take the charge of Secretary in the Ministry after incumbent Prem Narain’s retirement on 31 December, it said.

Soni is presently working as Director General, Bureau of Indian Standard under Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.

Duggal has been appointed as Special Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs against the newly created post. She will take over the charge as Secretary in the Ministry after retirement of incumbent Naved Masood on February 28, 2015, the order said.

She is presently working as Special Secretary, Department of expenditure under the Finance Ministry.
