3 killed in UP dust storm; rain brings temp down in east, north India

Three persons were killed in incidents of wall collapse and uprooting of trees as a strong dust storm lashed UP on Wednesday. Light to moderate rain lead to a considerable drop in the in northern and eastern states.

Heatwave conditions abated in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, UP, Odisha, Bihar and West Bengal, following a fresh spell of rain. In Delhi, the mercury settled below the 40 degrees Celsius and the city recorded light to moderate rain in the afternoon.

In UP, a 12-year-old boy was killed when a wall collapsed on him, following a dust storm in Manjhanpur area of Kaushambi district. Two more persons died after trees fell on them during a dust storm in Jaunpur ditrict. According to the MeT office, high rainfall was witnessed in Lalganj , Kerakat, Mohamadabad, Rasra and Varanasi. Meerut, Faizabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Moradabad, Varanasi, Allahabad recorded a dip in day temperatures.
