3 killed after BMW crashes into heavy vehicle on Yamuna e-way

The youths, all aged between 20 to 25, were first taken to the District Hospital in Mathura, where accident took place, where three succumbed and the other injured were shifted to a Greater Noida hospital after their condition worsened.
Police said the incident took place around 2:30 am on Agra-Greater Noida carriageway near <g data-gr-id="51">Tentigaon</g> in <g data-gr-id="52">Surir</g> Police station area. When their car reached the 89th milestone on the <g data-gr-id="32">high speed</g> corridor connecting Agra to Delhi via Greater Noida, the driver of the car lost control and rammed into a heavy vehicle from behind. The impact of the accident was so high that most parts of the BMW car was reduced to a heap.
Passers-by informed the Jaypee Authority, a company which is responsible upkeep and maintenance of entire 165-kilometre long stretch, and a rescue team was dispatched to the spot. Around 3 am, the rescue team called local police and the victims were evacuated by using gas cutters. They all were taken to the hospital where they identified as Aashish, Mayank, Raman, Ravi and Karan, all friends who had gone to Agra to visit Taj Mahal.
“ Five youths who were on their way to the Capital in a BMW car met with the accident. As they were travelling at a high <g data-gr-id="43">speed</g> it veered out of control. The other vehicle fled from the spot and efforts are underway to try and locate it. While the two men who were in the front seat -Aashish and Mayank, died on the spot, the third, Karan, succumbed to his injuries in the District hospital. The two others were admitted at Intensive Care Unit (ICU),” informed Piyush Shrivastava, Deputy SP of the area.
The Investigating Officer (IO) of the case informed that a case has been registered at the police station and CCTV footage is being scanned to identify the other vehicle. “We have registered <g data-gr-id="48">case</g> and are investigating the matter. We have informed families of all three deceased and one of them <g data-gr-id="46">has has</g> reached here. Prima- <g data-gr-id="54">facie</g> it appears that the youngsters were under the influence of liquor that could be <g data-gr-id="44">reason</g> of the <g data-gr-id="45">mishap</g> but that is being ascertained. The two injured have been referred to Jaypee hospital in Greater Noida as their condition was critical,” the IO said.
